One Life to  Live: Who’s on your team?

It’s the second week of the 2016 Rio Olympics and if you’re not under a rock you can’t help but to hear or see something about the competitions.  Everybody wants to win ! No one came to Rio to lose. Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas proved this by diving over the finish line in the women’s 400 meter race. And….. wait for it…. it’s legal whether it’s unintentional or not.

Although Miller said her dive was unintentional…we need to be intentional about who..is on our team… for the win.   In this one life we get to live we need to surround ourselves with people who will encourage, push, pull, correct (from love), sacrifice, teach, instill, share, and esteem us. If there is anyone around you (on a regular basis) and they are not displaying any of these behaviors regarding you.. they are not on your team. People on our team, they get us.. they respect us, they love us!

We understand what it means to be part of a team in the sports arena… 1. (a group of players forming one side in a competitive game or sport)… 2. or used before another word to form the name of a real or notional  group that supports or favors the person or thing indicated.  I can’t imagine anyone making it to the Olympic games without the help of a team.  Every team will look different and will not always share your genetics as in Simone Biles’ case Grand vs. step+(mother).  I need to digress for a moment here. The guy, the announcer or judge whomever he is, first, should be ashamed of himself and second, he needs to watch Sesame Street. Okay I just had to get that out!

Remember as children when we chose teams for activities?..We chose those who we were pretty sure would get us to the win.   If you want to know what your life will look like in five years watch the people you surround yourself with.
